Wine maker notes
La Vie en Rose: Some say a rose shouldn't be to be too pink, but we beg to differ. Our rose is blush pink, and elegantly sanguine. Made from the finest 100% Grenache from the South of France, we use mature berries to create an aromatic nose and taste that is simply delicieux La Vie en Rose: Some say a rose should have a traditional label and a classic French name. We beg to differ. Notorious Pink's label is classic Francais but the name is something else entirely. Las Vie en Rose: Some say a rose should be very, very dry. We beg to differ. Our's is not as dry as most French rose, which makes it fabulously tasteful enjoyed with or without food. Perfect anytime you want it. Notorious Pink is a special blush cuvee made from Grenache, the leading grape varietal at Domaine la Colombette in the South of France. Rose has often been considered a summer wine but it our goal to bring rose to the forefront of everyday indulgence. Notorious Pink has won five Gold Medals and two ?Judges favorite,? in addition to a myriad of silver and bronze medals in regional competitons, as well as in Paris. At Domaine la Colombette, the techniques used have been tried and tested. The grapes from the oldest vines are bled, while those from younger vines are pressed. After settling, the musts are fermented at low temperatures (14-18c). Notorious Pink: counter-intuitive, slightly provocative, perfect everytime you want it.

Food pairing
Notorious Pink Rose is not as dry as most French rose wines. Enjoyable with seafood, vegetables, pasta and poultry dishes.

Producer
The Story of La Colombette, by Francois Pugibet Winemakers for Four Generations It all began in 1890. My grandfather Louis Pugibet a blacksmith, fell in love with a winemaker and she gave him his first hectare as a gift for their marriage. He soon bought the surrounding land to develop the estate and named it La Colombette, rue de Toulouse, after the place where he was born. He had two daughters and a son, who was also named Louis. Louis? son, who eventually took on the family estate, was 18 years younger than his sister. ?Little Louis?, (as he was affectionately nicknamed because he was so short), dreamed of travelling and had a passion for rugby. In difficult times, with unwavering resolution, he maintained the integrity of the estate and he gave us a wonderful childhood. A Pioneer for Quality Wine in Languedoc 1966 marked a turning point in the future of La Colombette. It was at this time that I took on the estate. The first years by my father's side were a steep learning curve for me. We didn't have a tractor, everything was done by horse. I learned to work with this animal for 7 years and if it hadn't been that it was always unpleasant, I imagine the return of such beast would be utopian. From the early 70s, I had more freedom and supported by my wife Jeannette, I started to renovate the estate. I made the difficult choice to never rely on subsidies, instead to produce wine for a market that is looking for more quality. It took a while to create. I planted vines that weren't thought to be suitable for the conditions in Languedoc. Firstly Grenache and Syrah, then Chardonnay, Sauvignon and Pinot Noir. All this pioneering work has been accompanied with resolute determination against the administration; as we are used to these days with our work on the management of alcohol content. It seems 'times change? easier than people do . . . the way we prune and trellis the vines has been dictated by the rules of major French regions using the Royat system. Mechanization of the harvest started only 7 years after we stopped using the horse. Harvesting by machine left us with more time to spend working with the wine in the cellar. The wine became sharper when we were able to work on the most important factor for our region: temperature control. Learning to barrel-age and bottle wine was not easy-going, but the hard work paid off. Our loyal customer base was growing and we were winning competitions. Our greatest achievement was winning the award of the ?Best Chardonnay in the World? twice, defeating the greatest Burgundies. This earned me the nickname that I quite enjoy; the ?Devil of Chardonnay?. It is better to be the devil than the Good Lord, we ask less of him. The Drive For Innovation / Focus on Innovation My son Vincent joined me at the estate 1997. Big changes soon followed. At the same time that the marketing became more organized and the estate grew, great ideas started to develop rooted in our vision of vine and wine. More will be explained later, but to list them in order: irrigation, method of bottle closure, dealcoholisation, natural bush-style growing and the planting of new disease-resistant grape varieties have all been addressed. More than ever after this decade, we believe that the world of wine has to live with the times. Our major contribution to this exciting and necessary modernization has been rewarded with one of the three gold medals at World Wines Innovation Awards, we are very proud of this achievement.
