The resurgent Bierzo designation of origin, in the late 90’s, as one of the main areas of Spain for the development of modern cutting red wines thanks to the vision of a group of young winemakers. Mencia grape variety, grown in the area since the Middle Ages, continental climate with Atlantic influence a terrain that protects the cooler winds of Galicia and the mosaic of small plots of old vines pruned in glass, set the suitability of this historic region to offer great red wines of authenticity LOSADA Vineyards, the first wines of El Bierzo bet on elegance. From the beginning, our viticulture follows a different path than usual in Bierzo. Instead of looking outstanding slate vineyards, we focus on recovering old vineyards of Mencia, which were almost abandoned for being in clay areas. Work on the tiny plots aims to balance the vineyard with its natural ecosystem. So take advantage of the characteristics of the soil, to offer wines with elegance and purity as main features. |
