“Poggio Alto” by Piccini is the result of our ambition to revive a forgotten and fascinating traditional method of winemaking typical to the region called “Governo al Uso Toscano,” which consists in inducing a second fermentation by adding a small percentage of dried grapes. This technique renders a soft and round consistency to the wine and a pleasant fruit driven palate with sweet tannins. The vineyards of “Buon Governo” are planted on rich soils of clay and sediments in central-southern Tuscany. “Poggio Alto” is a Sangiovese based wine, blended with small percentages of Colorino, Merlot and Cabernet.
