Pure Pinot Noir fruit bursts on the nose, accompanied by cigar wrapper, wildflowers, and spice; this ’09 wine balances its fruit with minerality and a slight touch of sauvage. The biodynamically maintained vineyards for this Joseph Drouhin Côte de Beaune 2009 sit on the hill overlooking the city of Beaune, but this appellation should not be confused with Côte de Beaune-Villages (a blend of various villages from the Côte de Beaune). Part of the grapes comes from vines of the Joseph Drouhin estate, and the rest derive from the younger vines of Clos des Mouches and other Premier Crus of Beaune.
