Aromas of blackcurrant, mushroom, wet earth and bark follow through to a full body, chewy tannins and a stone, berry, chili and spice aftertaste. Muscular and chunky. Very serious. Almost no new oak. This shows the Mayacamas DNA.

The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon is savory, fresh and super-inviting, as so many wines are in this vintage, Bright red cherry, iron, smoke, mint, wild flowers and anise all lift from the glass. Medium in body, taut and wonderfully focused, the 2014 is going to reward readers lucky enough to own it for many, many years. I especially like the pure energy and vibrancy that runs through the 2014. (Antonio Galloni)

Wine Spectator Review

This packs in a lot of juicy black currant and blackberry paste notes, with lively licorice snap and bramble accents filling the available space. A roasted apple wood accent lends a mouthwatering edge while a tarry echo at the very end adds range and length. Should cruise in the cellar. Best from 2020 through 2045.

This wine is very vibrant and youthful in color, with a nose of violet, red plum, rasberry, licorice, and spice. On the palate, a splash of more intense red cherries washes in, along with an edge of black tea, tobacco, mint, and a finish that is long with blackberries. The acidity is fresh, and the tannins are unified and supporting. Structurally, this is an elegant, food-friendly Cabernet Sauvignon, middle-weight, deep, and intense, with an old-world expression.
