The grapes for this Kerner Lahn grow at an altitude of about 900 m above sea level. As a hybrid of Trolliner (Schiava) and Riesling, the grape variety is named after the Swabian poet Justinus Kerner and brings out spiced wines with delicate notes of nutmeg. . In local dialect âLahnâ means avalanche. Some time ago in the mountains near to the vineyards a mudslide went adrift and that is why the wine from these vineyards is called âLahnâ. .
