Finished in a combination of 84% ex-bourbon and 16% ex-Sherry barrels previously filled with Scotch, this 104 proof whiskey layers rich caramel and baking spice with ripe fruit, soft malt, and rounded complexity. This singular whiskey journeyed from this remote Scottish island (with one road, just 250 residents, and incidentally where George Orwell wrote 1984), to the Bourbon Capital of the World â Bardstown, KY. . Lochs of Jura Barrel Finish was awarded Best American Whiskey at the 2026 IWSC Awards with a score of 99 points!. Vanilla crème with blackberry compote and mint is surrounded by toasted oak and cigar box. This leads to a palate of fresh spearmint, caramel, and light cinnamon spice.
