The 2020 Capensis Western Cape Chardonnay is a culmination of five remarkable vineyards â a balanced, layered, and complex expression of the region. Crafted to age gracefully and gain complexity over time, the wine currently shows shavings of tangerine citrus, river stone minerality leaving a rich mouth coating of acidity with lightly toasted brioche. 96 Points -Tim Atkin MW, Tim Atkin South Africa Report, September 2024. 92 points Wine Enthusiast. This blend of Chardonnay from eight vineyards across the Western Cape has multiple layers and enough acidity to balance its richness. Aromas of tropical fruit, cinnamon, ginger and vanilla shine on the nose. The palate is abundant in baking spices and offers light notes of stone fruit.  â Jesica Vargas. 91 points Vinous Media. The 2020 Chardonnay was whole-bunch-pressed and underwent ten months in 38% new French oak barrels with regular racking. This has a very composed bouquet that takes a little encouragement: lime, Golden Delicious and hints of melted wax coming through with time. The palate is well balanced with an appealing, slightly creamy texture. The oak here is nicely judged, leading to a linear, surprisingly strict finish. Very fine.  - By Neal Martin on August 2024
