Delving even deeper into the roots of tequila’s early production, Amatiteña ‘Origen’ offers an example of their historical, estate-grown tequila at a notably higher (and more traditional) ABV than their core blanco, leaping up from a sturdy 42% to a racy 49%.

  • Cooked in a traditional, mesquite-wood-fired stone oven (without steam)
  • Milled using an automated tahona (traditional stone wheel mill)
  • Fermented with fibers (bagasse) in open air wood tanks (tinas), using spring water & ambient yeast
  • Distilled in historical copper pot stills from the 19th century
  • Prominent aromas of mesquite, burnt marshmallow, and lemon zest are bolstered on the palate by dried oregano, star anise, menthol, dried cherry, grilled pineapple, peanut shell, and fresh seaweed

Leaping up from a sturdy 42% to a racy 49%, ‘Origen’ doubles down on some of the richest notes of the core blanco, while highlighting some subtler notes of tropical fruit and star anise which are easy to overlook at 84 proof, but hard to ignore at 98.
