The dark cherry notes from the Merlot meld with the blackberry and thyme notes from the Cabernet Sauvignon to produce an intensely aromatic wine. The Petit Verdot adds richness, depth and notes of anise. Barrel aging in French oak lends vanilla bean and cedar spice, while rounding out the generous tannins and lengthening the finish.

Based on cabernet from the Terra A Lago vineyard in the Mayacamas foothills and merlot from the Geyserville bench, this is a chewy yet sophisticated red, carrying a black earthen flavor in its tannins, even as they’re smoothed by oak. It feels properly ripe, its sails full of red fruit, hinting at higher-toned floral aromas and a woodsy savor that speaks to hillside fruit.
