Grant Burge made the first Holy Trinity blend in 1995. Following a trip to France's Rhone Valley with winemaker Craig Stansborough, he refined the style dramatically over the following vintages. In particular, a move to extended post fermentation maceration created silky, soft tannins, and a shift away from American to older French oak meant an altogether more subtle wine.
93 Points - Wine EnthusiastThis longstanding brand is back in the country with one of its best-known labels. A classic G-S-M blend, it's an earthy, broody wine. Subtle cherry, black-currant and licorice notes are wound in dusty red soil, bay leaf and ground pepper. Tannins are fine, spicy and granular in texture. There's freshness and finesse amid the muscularity. This is traditional Barossa without the overt, luscious fruit. Drink now with protein at hand or cellar until 2031.
