| Lombardy’s climate is varied due to the region’s diverse terrain, but is generally considered a “cool” continental climate. The region is influenced by several geographic features that control the climate and terroir of the land, including the Alps that are located in the northern parts of the region near the wine producing area of the Po river, which runs along the Oltrepo Pavese (whose name means “Pavia beyond the Po”). The result is a fruit forward wine with hints of black and blueberries and elegant earthy notes. After the grapes are harvested around the middle of September and the fermentation process is complete, the wine remains in French barriques of different sizes for approximately six months. The final result is a red wine that strikes a fine balance between soft, complex, and bold. |
