Gagliole continues to thrive under its most recent incarnation headed by in house winemaker Giulio Carmassi and consultant Paolo Salvi. As proprietor Thomas Bar adds to his vineyard holdings, it seems Gagliole’s center is increasingly shifting to Panzano and away from Castellina. As for the wines, they are positively stellar and show a bit more freshness than in the recent past. - From Chianti Classico 2015 & 2016: Right Place, Right Time (Feb 2019) by Antonio Galloni
Wine maker notes
This red is made of Merlot and Sangiovese. The wine is an intense ruby red in colour and is characterized by a complex and intriguing range of aromas: ripe black fruit, liquorice, spices and tobacco leaf. On the palate it is silky and enveloping with a fine density and persistence. The finish shows notes of ripe black fruit, liquorice, coffee, and dark chocolate. It should be served at a temperature of 18°C.
