This red wine is made using an ancient winemaking technique called “ripasso”. This consists in introducing a part of Valpolicella, produced the preceding autumn, onto Amarone wine marc after these have been decanted in March. The grapes used to produce this wine come from vineyards located on the Moraine Hills in the Valpolicella area. /p> Food pairing Suited for aging (6-8 years). Combinations: red meat, game and cheeses. Serve at 16-18°C
Producer Over the generations the Tedeschi Family has handed down, and enriched, its winemaking expertise while maintaining the values that are the hallmark of the historic Valpolicella estate. In 1824 Nicolo Tedeschi, who was known for his integrity and moral fiber, purchased several vineyards, even though earlier documents indicate the family had first purchased vineyards in 1630. Niccolo was followed by Lorenzo Tedeschi, who was nicknamed Damigiana (Demijohn) because his cart was always laden with demijohns of wine, and who in 1908 received the Medaglia d’Oro Arte e Lavoro at the Esposizione Industriale Moderna Citta di Verona . The passion for winemaking also took hold in Riccardo Tedeschi; the inhabitants of Pedemonte considered him to be a patriarch, and he was so forward-looking that in 1918 he purchased the vineyards of Monte Fontana and Monte Olmi. His two male children continued his work: Silvino, who meticulously cared for the vines, following the traditional farming techniques developed over the generations, and Lorenzo, Renzo to his friends, who with his wife Bruna promoted the ”Tedeschi Style,” combining tradition and modern technique, and establishing the family-run estate’s name and reputation for quality in Italy and abroad. Tedeschi is now managed by Lorenzo’s children: Antonietta, who handles Italian sales and the administration, Sabrina, a food scientist who taught and did research at the Istituto di San Michele all’Adige for many years, and Riccardo, an enologist, who, in addition to overseeing all of the estate’s winemaking, handles foreign sales. From the past, constant passion, and from the present, continuous research. Indeed, the Tedeschi Family has succeeded in maintaining the values that have always distinguished it, but at the same time has kept pace with the present, introducing new technologies. A perfect blend of tradition and innovation that reflects the Tedeschi philosophy: authentic family flavors, and the qualitative standards of a cutting-edge company: Because of this, every Tedeschi wine displays authentic character and personality that remain true over time, thanks to the raw materials: the grapes.
