In 1849, many settlers flocked to the region in the hopes of coming into a financial windfall simply by picking up gold nuggets right off the ground. But not everyone struck it rich in NorCal and as the thirst for gold waned by the end of 1855 gold fever turned into vine fever - with many settlers finding liquid gold in the form of California wine. 1849 Wine Company with its rolling hills unique microclimate & topography coupled with the mineral rich soil and California’s sunshine produce the perfect terroir for our grapes to fully ripen. Then a beautiful transformation occurs when the fruit is handcrafted into an exceptionally elegant wine revealing the grapes true individuality.
