Producer What happens when two people meet, fall in love, and also fall in love with wine? Well, they decided to start a winery of course. With a newfound passion for both wine and each other, John and Stacy began their journey. From the start, John says it was like Guerrilla Winemaking 101. They had no idea of what was needed to begin…the legal issues, compliance issues, winemaker costs, grape costs, crush facility costs, or even how to sell the wine. John and Stacy just threw caution to the wind and began their journey. It was this brazenness, and the uncompromising belief in each other, that sustained the early years of Brilliant Mistake Wines. In 2013, they began with two barrels of cabernet sauvignon. They brought on winemaker Maayan Koschitzky in 2015. He immediately became an integral part of the team - crafting amazing wines. Annual productions steadily increased, and there was the addition of a Sauvignon Blanc to the portfolio. Brilliant Mistake began to grow its reputation. Strong showings at both the 2017 and 2018 Premiere Napa Valley Wine Auctions solidified Brilliant Mistake Wines’ presence on the world stage. In 2018, Brilliant Mistake Wines entered into a partnership with Steven & Sonia Greenbaum and Laurence “Doc” Cohen, all longtime wine collectors and avid wine fans. Steve and Doc will bring their business and marketing experience to the brand, and having them on board will allow Brilliant Mistake Wines to continue to grow. “Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes.
