Producer The Acre story begins in 2002 with just one acre of Cabernet Sauvignon planted and nurtured to maturity almost solely by co-founder, Dave Becker, at his family home in the Oak Knoll region of the Napa Valley. Dave’s one acre home Cabernet vineyard soon led to production from two more one acre plantings - Oak Knoll Zinfandel from his neighbor’s vineyard, and Yountville Cabernet, which Dave planted with identical Bordeaux clones as those in his home vineyard, allowing for an interesting vineyard comparison with identical varietal, clones, spacing, and orientation, and location being the only variable. In 2017, Mike and Talley Henry took over as proprietors of Acre and brought on veteran winemaker, Richard Bruno. Together they will continue the founders’ legacy of producing high quality wines from Acre’s core vineyards in Oakville and Yountville while adding new vineyard sources and varietals as Acre moves into its next chapter.
