CHATEAU LE CROCK Château Le Crock is classified among the first Bourgeois growth Supérieur of the Médoc region. It produces wines which distinguishes themselves from others by their exceeding aromatic nose, their full-bodied structure and their finesse. The politique of low quantité but high qualité and the production methode which are applied to Château Le Crock, are based on the same principals as those of Château Léoville Poyferré. This specific care in the vineyard and to the vinification enabled it to win the 1992 Crus Bourgeois`s Cup. This estate, surrounded by the 2nd growth Château Cos d`Estournel and the 2nd growth Château Montrose has 32 hectares of vines and also a beautiful park and large meadows Producer Built in Saint-Estephe by the Merman family at the beginning of the 19th century (1815-1830), the chateau is surrounded by vineyards and a 6-hectare park. Originally called 1/2 Cru de Croc », the estate had only 17 hectares of vines. The name was changed to 1/2 Chateau Le Crock » in 1880, as the vineyard continued to expand. In 1903, the Cuvelier family, wine merchants from the North of France, acquired the estate, which now comprises 32 hectares. The family, now headed by Didier Cuvelier since 1979, endeavored to see their chateau prosper and become a Cru Bourgeois in 1932.
