Producer In 1980, Sogrape Vinhos acquired Honra de Azevedo, located in the parish of Lama, Barcelos, one of the most ancient and magnificent Portuguese manors, with a tower dating back to the eleventh century. In order to transform this quinta into a prestigious venue for receiving distinguished guests and to build a winery within the Vinho Verde Region, the manor and estate underwent meticulous restoration, renovation and decoration for about four years while the new vineyards were planted. It represents Sogrape Vinhos’ expansion in this region and their increasingly significant presence. At the time, Fernando Guedes oversaw the planting of vineyards with noble grape varieties, such as the regional Loureiro and Pederna, in an area of almost 40 hectares, and the installation of a modern winery, with excellent facilities for producing increasingly fresh and elegant Vinho Verdes, thus meeting consumers’ preferences. The first harvest at Quinta de Azevedo, whose manor house is represented on its label, was released in 1990, to complete the Sogrape Vinhos Vinho Verde range. Year after year, the quality of this wine has been recognized by numerous national and international awards.
