Wine maker notes From the Mapuche language meaning “unique,” Kinien is the icon line of wines from Ruca Malen produced from 100% Estate-grown fruit in limited quantities. Kinien Malbec is layered with aromas of ripe cherries and plums, violets, and smoke. Fresh and juicy on the palate, the sweet, concentrated tannins are balanced by a pleasant acidity. The long finish is marked by a velvety texture with hints of chocolate and a trace of cedar. A wine which will reward extensive cellaring, it is aged in new French oak barrels for 14 months and in bottle for 8.
Producer Ruca Malen’s dream began in 1998 when Jean Pierre Thibaud and Jacques Louis de Montalembert confessed to each other the desire to build their own winery in Mendoza. Back then, Jean Pierre was leaving the presidency of Chandon Winery Argentina after 10 years, whilst Jacques Louis had acquired a solid knowledge of winemaking in the Bourgogne region. Since its first harvest in 1999, Ruca Malen aims to achieve the highest quality in wines, focusing on style, elegance and distinction.
